Yesterday afternoon I headed into Flinders St Station for Drop 9. At first I had thought I’d do it at peak hour, so that people coming home from working a long week might find a beautiful thing, but I worried that there’d be too many people, so I decided to go in around 2:30 instead. Once I got there, I was really glad I had, as there were heaps of people around at that time, I couldn’t imagine just how many people would have been there 5pm on a Friday night!
It was quite tricky to drop the Journals with so many people around, I wanted to do it unobserved but that was much harder here than anywhere else I’ve done this!
Once breakfast was done, we drove across town to collect Journal 6. The Inscriber was at home today, working on projects so it was easiest to drop by their house. It was a flying visit, not even time for coffee, but we stayed long enough to be investigated thoroughly by the Inscribers curious, if elderly, boxer.
We left with Journal 6 carefully slipped into my bag and literally covered in dog fur.
While hanging out at Fed Square for Visible Studios, I figured it was a perfect time to organise some hand overs. The first Journal to meet it’s Inscriber was Journal 6. This Inscriber picked their way gingerly through the space, avoiding artworks on the floor and girders dissecting the space, to eventually end up at my desk space. Photographed is the moment of hand over. This Inscriber was very keen about Journal 6, they loved the keys scattered across the front and back covers.
A few hours later the next Inscriber arrived. After a short confusion about how to get into the space itself (the door is cunningly hidden as one of the wall panels) this Inscriber enthusiastically bounced into the space. They had a few questions about the project and were delighted to meet their Journal. I think this Inscriber already has plans as to what they’re going to do
Monday was a very productive day at Visible Studios, I created 4 Journals, inbetween chatting to artists and having visitors drop by.
Journal 5 invoked Art Nouveau with it’s beautiful blue flower shapes
I love the Ink and Spindle lettering on the front of Journal 6
Journal 7 seems quite busy but the overprints work really well together here.
Journal 8 with it’s white trams and bikes
